Without compromise: Milwaukee Safety Solutions

Safety should be No.1 when buying equipment and Milwaukee® Safety Solutions offer the best peace of mind you can get.

Safety isn’t necessarily at the front of a tradie’s mind when buying tools, even though it’s one of the most important aspects to consider. Ensuring everyone is operating with equipment that prioritises safety is vital, every day on every job. Thankfully, Milwaukee Tool has been manufacturing products with safety in mind since the US company kicked off nearly a century ago. “Safety is at the core of how we design our products,” said Milwaukee Tool Australia’s Senior Product Manager of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), Shannon Bruce. “We put our end users first and last by investing in innovation that will keep Australians safe on the job site.”

COMMITTED TO CORDLESS

There are plenty of tools on offer ahead of Christmas, and Milwaukee Tool has you covered with some great (and safe) cordless products. But Milwaukee doesn’t just have industry-leading quality. Many Milwaukee marquee products sport the brand’s patented RAPID STOP™ and AUTOSTOP™ technologies. The RAPID STOP™ brake helps to ensure potentially hazardous equipment like the blades of angle grinders and circular saws stop spinning in under three seconds from shutting off the tool. AUTOSTOP™ technology uses an electromagnetic clutch that activates during lock up to prevent over-rotation of drills. The technology is designed to keep wrists safe, with over-rotation limited to 45 degrees rather than a full 360-degree spin. “We are committed to a cordless job site. We engineer safety features in our tools and make ergonomic considerations across our products,” Shannon said. “We have introduced innovations like our RAPID STOP™ brake technology, our patented AUTOSTOP™ Kickback Control and entire systems like the MX FUEL™ Equipment System that is designed to give industrial users a powerful alternative to petrol-powered and corded equipment.”

EYE PROTECTION

Thanks to its variety, Milwaukee PPE equipment is second to none. It’s got you covered – literally – with a range of equipment to protect you from head to toe – eyes, ears, hands, arms and legs. The Milwaukee range of heavy-duty eye-protection meets the robust certified requirements of the Australian and New Zealand Safety Standard AS/NZS 1337.1:2010. That means the glasses are built for maximum protection while providing unimpeded vision and maximum comfort, and are classed to withstand medium impact – the force delivered from an object travelling 45 metres per second. As well as being AS/NZS 1337.1:2010-compliant, Milwaukee safety glasses are encoded with a lettering indicating authenticity in safety certification.
The Milwaukee range of performance and high-performance glasses sport top-notch anti-scratch and anti-fog lenses, and both variants feature removable gaskets to protect against debris and dust. Both come in tinted and non-tinted editions.

HAND PROTECTION

Made from durable materials including polyurethane, nitrile and leather, the massive range of Milwaukee Safety Gloves includes EN388-certified models to keep digits safe from cuts and punctures. Each glove variant has been pushed to its limits during testing to ensure hands remain safe around tools. They’re cut by a weighted circular blade (coupe test), stabbed with a straight razor-sharp blade (tomodynamometer or TDM Cut Test Machine) and tested to withstand 7.0kN of force, among other applications. All Milwaukee fingered gloves feature SMARTSWIPE™ fingertips, allowing the use of a smartphone or tablet without removing the gloves. “Our growing Milwaukee PPE range is the next step in our promise to keep tradespeople safe on the job site,” Shannon said. “We realised many existing PPE solutions in the market had experienced little change over time and lacked versatility, flexibility and durability. This lack of innovation has led some users to resort to altering their job site protection to maximise productivity at the expense of safety.”

DROP PREVENTION

With everything going cordless, dropping an unsecured tool at the worksite can be dangerous and costly. Fortunately, the impressive selection of Milwaukee locking-tool and wrist-lanyards and handles are designed to keep prized tools secure. The lanyards can handle anywhere between 0.9kg-22kg, and feature powerful shock absorption and simple and quick connection. KNEE PADS
Striking a balance between comfort and durability, Milwaukee Tool has a wide range of knee pads. Need something heavy-duty for indoor/outdoor flooring, roofing or painting? Maybe something lighter for general day-to-day work? Or will you be working on jagged, uneven surfaces? Milwaukee knee pads cater to your needs, with features like hinged thigh straps for mobility, protective gel and non-marring caps to stop them from damaging sensitive surfaces. “We’re trying to shift the PPE market by offering solutions designed from the ground up to meet the demands of the constantly changing job site,” said Shannon. “We want to keep our users safe without sacrificing their productivity. “Everyone should feel safe on the job site. We want to do our part to help make sure tradespeople make it home safely every day.”
