Powder-actuated tools and Ramset go hand-in-hand. The JobMaster is the latest tool in this arsenal, delivering a simple point-and-shoot single-shot tool.

Built for timber to steel or concrete applications across residential, partition jobs, formwork or MEP, this tool covers a bunch of jobs tradies work on.

He put the JobMaster to the test on a residential framing job on the Mornington Peninsula.
Test #1: Power performer
From an ease-of-use point of view, you’d be hard-pressed to find anything better than the JobMaster.
It’s semi-automatic and single-shot nature make it easy for tradies like Nyall to get through work quickly and accurately.
“The tool was definitely made with productivity in mind,” he said.
“The quick reloads, dependable firing – we were able to really put it through the test, and it shot through loads of frame and into concrete, which I consider to be a difficult application.
“It did a great job.”
The JobMaster can shoot nails up to 75mm and use Ramset’s LDU and LWU range which features single-shot and washered nails.
“I don’t think there was a single misfire,” Nyall added.
“For us, that’s the dependability we need. Any misfire is going to cost you time, and time is money.
“As far as reloading, we were going through a shot every seven seconds, and that can really work in your favour in getting the frame down.”
Test #2: Easy interface
Being smaller than bigger multi-shot PA tools has its advantages when it comes to handling.
It’s lighter weight, combined with ergonomic grip with padded handle, meant Nyall and hit team could use it comfortably at tight angles for prolonged use.
“Ramset have really considered everything – it’s really comfortable in my hand and the recoil is manageable,” Nyall said.
“I could hand this to an apprentice and he could go all day – I don’t think anyone’s gonna have an issue with it.”
A simple power adjustment dial above the trigger also makes it easy to adjust on-the-go.
“We gave that a good test on site, and it just allows for multi applications you encounter during the day,” Nyall said. “If you go from shooting timber through concrete to shooting through steel — that impacts how you set the power.”
A seriously underrated feature of the JobMaster is its silencer attachment.
That means if you’re on-site early or need to be conscious of neighbours, you can still do crucial framing stages of a build.
“Noise reduction allows the site to be quieter; sometimes noise can create more stress than it needs to,” Nyall said.
“This silencer takes away from that aspect.”
Pump action
Simple to use, easy to handle — the JobMaster was a major upgrade to Nyall’s toolkit.
Despite its straightforward interface, Nyall loved just how many uses the tool had across a bunch of different materials/sites.
“It really is easy to use,” Nyall said.
“You just needed to be shown how to use it one time, and you’re all over it.”
