Cutting the perfect circle might seem like something any hole saw can do, but Diablo has proven there’s a lot more to it.
As plumber Cody Gledhill found out, the latest Demo Demon Carbide Teeth Rough-In Hole Saw range is stacked with features to lift it above his previous hole saws.
He and his team at Reliable Plumbing do contract work for Monash University, using hole saws for running copper pipe and new drain systems.
These Demo Demon hole saws are suitable for drilling into hard and soft wood, drywall, fibre cement and asphalt.
Test #1: Buzz cut
Diablo’s special carbide teeth technology add a huge boost to these hole saws. Cody loved the cutting power, which is optimised to deliver 5x faster holes*. He tested the hole saws on some yellow tail including some with timber studs in them.
“The cutting power was absolutely brilliant,” Cody said.
“They didn’t kick on you when it got to certain points, they sliced through anything like butter.
“With the lower revs, it wasn’t kicking back when I got to tougher points in the wood.”
Not only are the holes better, but the depth is fantastic at 60mm compared to 40mm from a standard hole saw. This makes each cut 40 per cent deeper in one-pass, and Cody loved it.
“The fact they cut so deep – I could just keep going and that made it super easy and quick,” he said.
These epic new hole saws provide some of the best cutting length for boring deeper holes in a single pass.
“I really liked how easy it was to get the core hole cut out after drilling,” Cody added.”
“It slides out insanely easy, other hole saws can get really stuck in and can be quite difficult to get out.”
Test #2: One hole after another
When cutting holes, tradies are swapping hole saws frequently between different sizes on the fly. For this, Diablo has implemented its awesome SnapLock system which allowed Cody to quickly attach the hole saw he needed and get cracking.
“The Snaplock system is really great – just how they click into the chuck is really easy,” Cody said.
“You don’t have to screw around, it’s just a quick swap around and off you go.
“All that made it really easy to go from hole to hole and do it all nice and quickly.”
Diablo also provides a universal mandrel which helped Cody easily clip each hole saw on and off his drill.
“This made it real easy and quick,” Cody said.
“With other hole saws, a lot are threaded and can be quite frustrating to get done and undone properly.
“But with these ones from Diablo, I can just pop them straight on to the drill.”
Demon time
Cody was left with clean deep cuts into his timber when all was said and done. After thorough testing with each size, none of Diablo’s Demo Demon® Carbide Teeth Rough-In Hole Saws had any signs of wear and tear.
This left Cody pretty stoked with the end result and keen to keep going back to Diablo time and time again.
“They performed absolutely fantastically,” Cody said.
“Each blade still has all its teeth, there’s no chipping in the colour – I can tell these are gonna last a very long time.”
