The Tradie February/March issue is out now!

Is anyone fed up with the heat?

At the risk of sounding un-Australian, I can’t stand temperatures over 30.

You can only hit up the beach so many times before you end up like a piece of dried seaweed.

I’ve even seen a TikTok trend out there encouraging beach goers to ‘get a good tan’ by not using sunscreen – uhhhh no thanks.

As far as I’m concerned, temperatures over 30 were invented to keep people inside with a cold one to boost Test TV ratings.

When it comes to tradies, hotter days mean working in sometimes sweltering heats (unless it’s simply too hot to work).

I’ve seen tonnes of sites in outer suburbia where whole hectares are being turned into insane compounds with five bedrooms, a tennis court, a turning circle, sheds for the boats, and granny flats for when the kids drop out of uni.

For these jobs, having a digger or two on site is common. But again, what about the heat?

In this edition of The Tradie, we highlight the work Caterpillar does when it comes to adding A/C cabs to their smaller range of excavators.

In days gone by, tradies driving diggers on a hot day might pinch the esky and dip their feet in the ice to stay cool.

Not anymore.

If you’re stuck inside with the A/C – or just sick of 2025 already – give this a read and see and soak up some of the cool things we’ve got going on.
