Building and construction mental health organisation MATES in Construction’s hoodies were hot ticket items last month, raising a total of $500,000.
MATES partnered with Bunnings to distribute limited edition hoodies to raise funds for the organisation’s branches, and it paid off big time.
Much like your MND Big Freeze beanie, the hoodies are aimed at raising awareness for a cause through apparel, in this instance suicide prevention and mental health awareness amongst tradies.
MATES CEO Chris Lockwood said the massive opportunity has helped provide a bigger platform for the group among tradies and construction workers.
“The contribution of $500,000 through the hoodie sales is vital for MATES to continue to grown and provide support to those most vulnerable in the industry,” he said.
“Our team has genuinely loved working with the Bunnings Trade team and enjoyed getting down to the Bunnings Trade Breakfast BBQs to launch the hoodies and talk to customers, many which had not heard of MATES and our services before.
“The positive feedback and engagement from Bunnings Trade customers to learn more about MATES was amazing and cemented our purpose to improve the mental health and well-being of workers and reduce suicide and that everyone in the industry must play their part.”
MATES was established in 2008, with the goal of reducing suicide rates among Australian construction workers.
