As time goes by, tradies, hardware stores and building material brands can form special bonds.
Constantly stopping by the same store, chatting with the same team and picking up the same products for the next big build becomes almost as much of a tradition as Friday knock-offs.
For Melbourne bricky Ryan Whipps of Whipps Bricks, his local go-to is Bayswater Mitre 10. His go-to brand? Cement Australia.
“Cement Australia’s consistency is unmatched in my opinion,” he said.
“With other brands, you can get variation in colour and things like that – but you just don’t get that with Cement Australia.
“It’s a premium brand and you know you’ll get a good result every time.”
Quite the bond
When Ryan found out Bayswater Mitre 10 would be stocking Cement Australia’s new Low Carbon Cement, he couldn’t wait to get his hands on some. He needed cement for brick walls at a nine-home build in Knox (east Melbourne).
The Low Carbon Cement is a sustainable alternative to Cement Australia’s General Purpose (GP) Cement, but is made with 30 per cent less embodied carbon. Bayswater Mitre 10 manager Rob Vanderkolk was more than happy to set Ryan up with bags of Low Carbon Cement for his project.
“We’ve supplied the cement to a couple of regulars – there’s a lot of interest and benefits from using it,” he said.
“At the moment, we’re just letting people know about it and if it’s suitable for their project, we can arrange for it to be supplied.”
True Blue and trusted
Ryan has been a Cement Australia user for about six years, using products such as their Off-White Cement, Hydrated Lime and GP Cement.
“We get all our stock through Bayswater Mitre 10, they’ve always got what we need and that’s Cement Australia stuff,” Ryan said.
Low Carbon Cement uses a sustainable mixture featuring Cement Australia’s new GreenCem™ technology.
This technology – developed in-house by Cement Australia – uses materials such as fly ash while maintaining early setting strength similar to GP Cement.
It was developed at Cement Australia’s NATA – accredited testing laboratory in Brisbane.
Like other Cement Australia products, tradies can rely on Low Carbon Cement to perform to a high standard, while at the same time being environmentally friendly.
