Suzuki Marine’s latest DF115 and DF140 four-stroke outboard engines are available in both mechanical and drive-by-wire variants to suit a wide range of boats, individual requirements and budgets.
Superseding the popular DF115A and DF140A, the mechanically-driven DF115B and DF140B feature a host of innovative updates, many of which are shared with the DF115BG and DF140BG Suzuki Precision Control (SPC) drive-by-wire models. An upgraded 10.6:1 compression ratio helps the 2.0L, inline four-cylinder, DOHC, 16-valve B/BG series achieve better acceleration and top-end speed, while fuel efficiency has also been improved over the previous A-series models. Tests have demonstrated up to 10% better lean-burn fuel efficiency across mid-range cruising to high-end speeds, which is good news for boaters in the face of rising fuel costs.
Among other upgrades is a 40A alternator to deliver better charging performance at low idle speeds, ideal for today’s power- hungry fishing boats that run a full suite of marine electronics and spend a lot of time running at trolling speeds.
The redesigned cowl of the DF115B/BG and DF140B/BG features a sporty, streamlined profile that’s sculptured to complement any type of boat. It also incorporates a new air- intake structure and a silencer-resonator system to further reduce engine noise at all speeds and RPM.
On the maintenance front, Suzuki has made it possible to replace the oil filter simply by removing the upper engine cover. A new Oil Spill Catcher surrounding the oil filter mount allows for changing the filter without making a mess, too.
For boats that aren’t fitted as standard with a clear bowl fuel filter (and as back-up for those that are), Suzuki has added an easy access Water Detection Fuel Filter to help protect the engine against contaminated fuel.
A large capacity fuel pump, optimised O2 sensor mounting location and use of zinc- coated rustproof fasteners further contribute to Suzuki’s renowned durability.
Featuring striking new graphics, the DF115B/BG and DF140B/BG are available in the Suzuki Pearl Nebular Black colour scheme, while the BG variant is also offered in a Super Cool White. Both the B and BG series are available in 20-inch and 25-inch shaft lengths, and are backed by Suzuki’s 3+3 year recreational warranty.
