Kia Australia has officially announced pricing for the Dual Cab Pick-Up variant of its highly anticipated new light commercial vehicle – the Kia Tasman.

Pre-orders are now open ahead of its showroom debut in July, marking Kia’s most locally-focused model to date. “The Tasman is by far our most eagerly awaited model, which speaks volumes about the significance of the ute segment in Australia and the enthusiasm of its buyers,” Kia Australia CEO Damien Meredith said.
“Thanks to Kia Australia’s extensive involvement in the development process, combined with the Tasman’s exceptional value and versatility, we’re confident it will be a strong contender in the market.”

Ready to land

The full Dual Cab Pick-Up line-up will launch in July, followed by the Dual Cab Chassis in August and the Single Cab Chassis later in 2025. Pricing for the Chassis variants will be announced closer to their respective release dates. Built on a brand-new ladder frame platform, the Tasman will be available in five trim levels—S, SX, SX+, X-Line, and X-Pro—with both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains.

The Dual Cab Pick-Up spans the entire range, while Chassis models will be more limited in trims. All variants offer over 1,000kg of payload capacity, with the X-Pro 4×4 still delivering 1,013kg despite its extensive feature list.

The S 4×2 Single Cab Chassis tops the charts with a payload of 1,124kg. To cater to novated lease requirements, all Dual Cab Pick-Up models will also be available with a reduced payload option under 1,000kg.

The Tasman boasts impressive load and towing capabilities, with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 3,250kg and a Gross Combination Mass (GCM) of 6,200kg.

Big time haul

All variants – except those tailored for leasing – support a 3,500kg braked towing capacity, in line with segment leaders. The unbraked towing limit is 750kg. A standard Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (ITBC) enhances towing safety, offering electronic brake calibration and an easy-access override.

This system works seamlessly with Towing Mode, which optimises towing dynamics and includes Trailer Sway Control. In terms of utility, the Tasman’s tub is class-leading, with capacity for an Australian pallet and 1,173 litres (VDA) of space, thanks to dimensions of 1,512mm (L) x 1,572mm (W) x 540mm (H).

Under-seat storage in all Dual Cab models provides an extra 45 litres of discreet space beneath the rear bench. X-Line and X-Pro trims introduce a segment-first reclining second-row seat with a sliding base for added rear passenger comfort.

They also feature a fold-out centre console table, perfect for working or eating on the go, and dual wireless phone charging. Across the range, the Tasman features Kia’s latest panoramic digital interface, combining a 12.3” driver display, a 5” climate panel, and a 12.3” infotainment screen.

Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Kia Connect services, and OTA updates are all standard. Buyers can choose from eight exterior colours and three interior trim options. S and SX models come with cloth seating, SX+ adds a cloth/artificial leather mix, and X-Line/X-Pro models feature full artificial leather interiors.
