The JAC’s all-new Hunter PHEV 4×4 joined the Ute market early this year, and the price tag has made waves.
With a retail price of $50,000 heads have turned, but in today’s economy we’re conditioned not to trust affordable pricing.
JAC Motors Australia Managing Director Ahmed Mahmoud said the Hunter PHEV’s price and capabilities are trailblazers in the Ute market.

Fuel consumption cuts
Electric Vehicles (EVs) are on the rise more than ever in Australia, where recent fuel market volatility has driven consumers toward Battery and Hybrid.
The Hunter’s dual powertrain system combines a 2.0T GDI engine with dual electric motors, offering the fuel efficiency you expect from your everyday EV, while powering a 360kW beast.
The 4×4 will take you up to a 1,005km combined range with a fuel consumption of only 1.6L/100km (based on NEDC), slashing through fuel costs.
Power you can depend on
No, the Hunter isn’t a gas guzzler, so nobody’s losing money there… but it doesn’t mean it’s lacking in its capabilities.
With a 31.2kWh LFP battery, 4WD with front and rear differential locks, and V2L capability, the PHEV promises that price and petrol do not equal power.
The braked towing is at the industry benchmark, pulling up to 3,500kg, and with a payload of 915kg the Hunter performs up to 200kg better than some other more expensive dual-cabs on the market.
Tested for tough terrain
Not only was the car designed for Australia, it was tested here too.
Hunter PHEV completed a 50,000km local validation program, with glowing performance through extreme heat, heavy rain, rough unsealed roads, and long-distance touring.
