Daniel Sanders and Navara ute push into new territory

Fresh off a demanding Dakar Rally, Australia’s reigning champion Daniel Sanders has renewed his ambassador role with Nissan Australia for a fourth consecutive year.

After battling injury and extreme conditions to secure a top-five finish in 2026, Sanders’ resilience continues to mirror the qualities Nissan is keen to highlight in its Navara lineup — durability, capability and a no-nonsense approach to performance.

Shared mindset built on resilience

For Sanders, the partnership reflects a natural alignment between rider and machine.

“For me, this partnership has always made sense,” he said. “Nissan builds vehicles that can handle the same conditions we face competing, as well as those on the farm. The Navara is tough, reliable and ready for anything, which is exactly what you need when you’re chasing big goals.”

That connection extends beyond motorsport. Raised in regional Australia, Sanders remains closely tied to life on the land, where reliability isn’t optional—it’s essential. It’s a sentiment that resonates strongly with Navara owners who depend on their vehicles across worksites, properties and long-distance travel.

Performance beyond the spotlight

While podium finishes define public perception, Sanders’ journey is built on preparation—early starts, long days and constant refinement. It’s a mindset Nissan believes reflects its customer base.

Steve Milette, Managing Director of Nissan Oceania, said the partnership continues to represent the brand’s core values.

“We love working with Daniel because he truly embodies the Nissan Australia brand, hardworking, honest and driven. We share a belief in overcoming challenges with a positive attitude and always striving to achieve our goals.”

“Daniel represents the kind of grit we see in Navara owners across Australia every day,” he added. “It’s not just about performing when things are going well and pushing through tough conditions. Getting the job done when people are counting on you. That’s what Daniel does, and it’s exactly what Navara is built for.”

Community connection and capability on show

The renewed partnership was marked by a community charity enduro event held at the Sanders family property, drawing more than 300 riders to the private track. The event showcased not only riding talent but also the practical, community-driven side of the partnership.

On display was the new Nissan Navara PRO-4X, alongside the Navara PRO-4X Warrior Concept, offering a glimpse into the next evolution of the platform and its off-road capability.

Built for Australian conditions

Celebrating 40 years in Australia, the Navara continues to evolve with a focus on local conditions. The latest generation features suspension tuning developed in partnership with Premcar, ensuring performance across the diverse terrains that define Australian driving.

With advanced safety systems, updated technology and a balance of rugged design and refinement, the Navara range is positioned to meet both work and lifestyle demands.

Looking ahead

As Sanders and Nissan enter their fourth year together, the focus remains on capability, endurance and real-world performance. With the Dakar champion continuing to push limits both on and off the track, the partnership is set to deliver more high-performance moments—and plenty of kilometres in challenging conditions.

For Nissan, the message is clear: when proven endurance meets proven engineering, the road ahead is built to be tackled head-on.
