Chery Australia has scored a double win at the 2026 CarExpert Awards, with the brand’s upcoming to-be-named KP31 ute recognised for Best Design ahead of its Australian launch.
Chery‘s Tiggo 4 was also crowned Best Affordable Small SUV for the second consecutive year.

The twin awards cap off a strong period of growth for the Chinese automaker, which has rapidly climbed into Australia’s top 10 automotive brands while expanding its local model lineup.
Ute earns early design recognition
Chery’s forthcoming KP31 ute secured the Best Design award despite not yet reaching Australian showrooms.
The accolade highlights the vehicle’s bold styling and signals early confidence in Chery’s ambitions within Australia’s highly competitive ute market.

The headline result went to the Tiggo 4, which retained its title as Best Affordable Small SUV in one of the country’s most fiercely contested vehicle segments.

According to CarExpert, the Tiggo 4 stood out thanks to its combination of affordability, technology and equipment levels.
“With Australians battling cost-of-living pressures, the Chery Tiggo 4 is a mighty tempting offering with a long list of standard equipment including plenty of safety technology, as well as a punchy turbocharged engine and a seven-year warranty – all for under $24,000 drive-away,” CarExpert said.
“Those seeking lower fuel bills can also step up to the available hybrid.”
The recognition comes as the Tiggo 4 continues to gain traction with Australian buyers, emerging as the nation’s highest-selling SUV so far in 2026.
