BYD helps raise $200,000 for Beyond Blue

BYD has helped raise more than $200,000 for Beyond Blue through EVDealer Group’s Beyond Blue Friday initiative.

This donation will contribute to supporting up to 3,000 Australians accessing mental health support via Beyond Blue’s free 24/7 Support Service.

The significant fundraising result was driven by a holiday campaign tied to the BYD Deep Sea Blue Shark 6 ute, with $200 from every vehicle sold donated to the leading not-for-profit mental health organisation.

BYD Australia Chief Operating Officer Stephen Collins said the campaign strongly aligned with the brand’s commitment to using its platform to support positive social change.

“BYD is proud to support organisations such as Beyond Blue who are not only committed to improving lives, but ultimately saving lives with critical services and expertise for those dealing with depression,” he said.

Every cent counts

Every two minutes, someone in Australia reaches out to Beyond Blue for help.

Through Beyond Blue Friday, BYD customers helped ensure more Australians could access immediate, potentially life-changing mental health support at a time when demand for services remains high.

With more than 3.4 million Australians currently experiencing depression or anxiety, the funds raised are supporting one-on-one counselling, information services, referrals and other vital resources that help people take important next steps in their mental health journey.

EVDealer Group CEO David Smitherman said the outcome of the initiative was both humbling and deeply meaningful. “Beyond Blue Friday showed us that when you create space for meaningful conversations around mental health, people respond,” he said.

“We’re incredibly proud of what our customers, our teams and our partners have achieved together in support of such an important Australian service that is Beyond Blue.”

Connecting help

Beyond Blue Chief Operating Officer Wes Cordingley said the support generated through the initiative would have a direct and lasting impact on people across Australia seeking mental health assistance.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity shown through the Beyond Blue Friday initiative,” he said.

Throughout the campaign, dealership teams reported that many customers chose the BYD Deep Sea Blue Shark 6 ute not only for the vehicle itself, but for the opportunity to support a cause with genuine social impact.

For a significant number of buyers, Beyond Blue Friday became a deciding factor, turning a vehicle purchase into a purpose-driven decision.

The sale of the one-thousandth Deep Sea Blue Shark 6 during the Beyond Blue Friday initiative also marked a milestone moment for BYD, coinciding with the delivery of the brand’s 80,000th vehicle in Australia.
