Tradie Business, Tradie Gear

Bayswater Mitre 10 stocks new Low Carbon Cement

Bayswater Timber Mitre 10 has been delivering the goods for tradies for ages.

Since 1956, to be exact.

The business was initially founded by Dutch immigrant family Bill Vanderkolk and his two sons – Frank and Charlie.

Joining the Mitre 10 family in 1992, the business has continued to evolve with the demands of east Melbourne tradies.

The store has scored a handful of National Trade Store of the Year awards, among other silverware.

Continuing the Vanderkolk tradition; Bayswater Timber Mitre 10 Manager Rob Vanderkolk has been witness to the tradie evolution of the last 35 years.

Sustainable solution

For as long as Rob’s been on-site, so has Cement Australia.

“We’ve always had a good partnership with them,” he said.

“Customers love buying Aussie made, which is what they are.”

Rob – much like his tradie customers – is always looking for new and innovative products to stock his shelves.

That’s why when Cement Australia unveiled its Low Carbon Cement, he was fully on board.

“People are always searching for environmentally conscious products, so being able to bring in this (Low Carbon Cement) for select projects has been great.

“It’s not just something our customers are after; Bayswater Mitre 10 is always looking to promote sustainable options, especially if they’re Aussie made.”

Low Carbon Cement is available for request on particular jobs – Rob said at these early stages, it’s about making customers know about the cement.

“So far, we’ve been able to supply a couple of projects around our area with the Low Carbon Cement.

“So far, they love the stuff – when you explain that it’s similar to the GP Cement with the environmental benefits, they really get behind it.”

Winning formula

Quality for the Bayswater trade community is something Rob and Cement Australia are both passionate about.

Offering Low Carbon Cement is simply a new chapter for both groups, ushering in a new chapter of sustainable materials that everyone – including tradie customers – can get on board with.
