The AEG 18V Fusion 6 Mode Impact Wrench not only has the brawn, but it has the brains to match. Packed with the powerful Fusion motor it provides maximum power and greater efficiency.
The AEG has an impact rate of 0-4000ipm and punches out 300Nm of torque for high-torque fastening, so we know it has the brawn. But it’s the intuitive 6-mode selection panel that had me intrigued. You are able to control not only the speed of the wrench, but the torque settings as well, independently giving much greater control of the tool and far more efficient fixing. With six preset modes to give the perfect results for various tasks, it seems this little beauty is going to make it a lot easier to get precision results. Let’s check it out in a bit more depth.
Test #1: Ergonomics And Feel
From the first pickup of the AEG 18V Fusion 6 Mode Impact Wrench you can feel the grip mould perfectly fitting into your hands. It feels great. It’s very comfortable to hold, the selection of grip materials is perfect, and AEG definitely has this bit right.
Using the tool, you can feel it’s well balanced and you have great control. It feels like an extension of your hand. The impact vibration is soaked up very nicely and after hours of use installing coach bolts there was minimal fatigue felt. Coming in at only 1.17kg as well, it’s nice and light and has a great power-to-weight ratio.
AEG has had this side of things dialed in for a while now, so there are no real surprises there.
Test #2: Power, Performance And Runtime
There’s definitely bulk power under the hood. We threw plenty of different fixings its way, and even tested it out on some larger airconditioning-plant pipes held together with huge nuts and bolts. There was no hint of struggle at all. There was plenty of power and torque to get the most stubborn of nuts and bolts undone. Team this motor up with any of the AEG Force batteries and you’ll find you’ll get some pretty amazing runtime out of this wrench, especially with the new Force 9.0Ah lithium-ion battery. We tested with both the 6Ah and the 9Ah and got impressive results from both.
Test #3: Brains
The speed and torque settings are what really gives the AEG 18V Fusion 6 Mode Impact Wrench the upper hand. No matter what application it’s used for, you can perfectly match the right amount of speed and the right amount of torque for the fixing and material you’re using. The precision mode is also perfect for screwing into soft timbers and removes the risk of overtightening and damaging the material. If you want to get your work done fast, and you know how tight you need the fixing/nut to be, there are three auto-tight modes that automatically shut down the impact wrench to reduce the risk of overtightening or countersinking the fixing. There are three speeds and three torque settings to flick between, so matching the speed to the torque required is easy as. It may take a few days to a week to fine-tune the settings you like, but once you know the settings you’ll be flicking between the perfect settings in seconds without even thinking about it.

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly
I loved the power of the AEG, and having the runtime to match was great. It’s an excellent balance of both. Having three speed and three torque settings is definitely a massive advantage on this already impressive impact wrench. The LED lights work very well and light up the area, and they’re probably the best I’ve seen.
There’s nothing to dislike as yet with this tool. It’s built tough and gets the job done fast.
AEG has definitely upped the ante with this system and it’s trade-quality for sure. It’ll be great for builders, mechanics, steelworker/fabricators, large aircon and a pile of others.
