Test #1: Tough nut
One thing’s for certain: this laser is no delicate flower.
Its 1.5m drop resistant and shock-absorbent rubber casing means it can handle your average fall.
“I’ve used a fair few of these lasers in my time because they make your life a lot easier on-site when you have to do a large amount of measuring,” Toby said.
“This one is quite robust – on the site, you can drop things and damage them.
“Not that you should be dropping things, but this laser seems like it can take a beating and remain accurate.”
The GLM 50-27 CG is also IP65 water resistant equipping it for those wet worksites.
Another underrated feature Toby liked was the vibration and sound feedback during measurements after they’re done.
Test #2: Tech savvy
A simple design doesn’t mean this laser lacks in tech-power mind you.
Through Bluetooth, you can document your measurements quickly thanks the to Bosch MeasureOn app.
“The Bluetooth documentation really stands out to me as a great feature,” Toby added.
“This allows me to measure a house’s worth of skirts after everything’s done.
“Being able to push a button and have all those measurements right on your phone is a really big thing for me.
“It saves you having to measure everything – write everything down – and then add everything up.
“That eliminates a lot of time when you’re doing quotes for your customers.”
When it comes to the actual measuring, the GLM 50-27 CG can do it all from room and wall areas, placing or fitting elements to even calculating material needs.
Like other Bosch lasers, the GLM 50-27 CG also uses a green laser making it great to do day-time measuring in bright areas. This accurate laser also lends itself to the tool’s precision which is ISO 16331-1 certified.
“I’ve used other lasers before, and many were lackluster,” Toby said.
“I measured the same spot four times with this laser to see how accurate it was, and it was millimetre-perfect every time.”

“There’s so many trades this will be useful for – concreters, landscapers, electricians, plasterers etc,” Toby said.
“Anyone who needs to do a large form of measuring … any tradesperson could use this and it would make their job a whole lot easier.”
